FEATURED ARTISTS

In 2020, Trinidad & Tobago based artist Cozier had his first breakthrough as a 20-year-old Producer with his original production “Area Code Riddim” featuring Medz Boss and later featuring Kwinton Thomas, aka K Lion. The track was uploaded to YouTube, and by the next morning, it had over 100k views. This release helped raise Cozier’s profile as a Producer and placed him amongst the pioneers of Trinibad; a new genre of dancehall and rap that has dominated the Caribbean music scene since 2019.

Cozier has produced and collaborated with K-LionKyler, Prince Swanny, Rebel Sixx, Skillibeng, Tafari, Zebee, Jahllano, Jay Critch, Tee Jay, Rheon Elbourne, Medz Boss, Wacko Dan, Fari Dan and CJ Dan. Their combined releases have earned Cozier’s productions over 51 million YouTube streams, and the numbers continue to rise.

His next release is his first body of work as an artist in his own right. Two years in the making, the “ Neverland” Album reflects the period of turbulence, trauma and isolation that accompanied the birth and development of Trinibad. With this new release, Cozier, the artist and multi-instrumentalist, reinvents himself into a sophisticated musical innovator, composing, recording, engineering, singing and playing the majority of the instruments featured on the album himself. The name Neverland represents the feeling Cozier had growing up in Trinidad where people often told him he could "never do this" or "never do that" when speaking about his dreams or goals. The album was released on 11/11/22, reached #4 on the Apple Music Reggae charts (Trinidad & Tobago) and has over 100,000 streams on Spotify as it continues to grow.

Abstract Benna is a South London-based storyteller and spoken word artist who has been making a name across the live circuit over recent years. He is London Borough of Lambeth's first official Poet Laureate and work in partnership with the council to build creative networks and shape the year-long role (2022 - 2023) for Laureates to come. His Audio Film / album "Out of Darkness", paints a picture of the choices that were available to his younger self while growing up in the light and darkness of South London social housing culture. Nurtured by a culture of storytelling, rap cyphers and the lyricism of his peers, Benna’s writing and performative skills evolved as he merged his love of authentic narratives with the rhythms and sounds of his environment. Honing his skills, he soon found himself sharing poems onstage, facilitating workshops and receiving corporate commissions. As this continued, Benna rapidly found himself needing to adapt to a variety of spaces and audiences. Out of Darkness is a reflective summary of this journey; growing up in inner city London and finding the tools to take on the unexpected.

"This project captures the essence of what I do. It sets the premise for the things I want to talk about going forward. My on-going themes are identity. What it means being raised in the diaspora and adapting to inner-city London life. Out of Darkness captures the essence of what it was like growing up in a pre-gentrified neighbourhood when crime, poverty, community love and a vibrant culture was all in a melting pot of what shaped us into the people we became." - Abstract Benna.

Artist:
KWAME YEBOAH (Guest Composer) with MARQUE GILMORE featuring BAMBO CISSOKHO

Track:
KWANPAYIN-NYE-NSU

After nearly two years of criss-crossed schedules and cancelled flights preventing Gilmore and Yeboah from several live improvisation gig sessions together, Gilmore happily invited him to contribute to the project. Kwame was provided a handful of exclusive “drums-only” tracks played/produced by Gilmore and he subsequently chose a wild rumpus 196bpm Live DnB roller upon which he composed and performed a multi-instrumental epic! The title “Kwanpayin Nye Nsu” is in the Ghanaian language of Fante and translates as “The Water Road is the oldest” ~ Kwame certainly takes us on that enigmatic path with his flowing and effortless skills on keyboards, guitar, vocals and production.

Keeping the flavour of the African connections in dedication to the Maasai, Marque then invited virtuoso percussionist from Senegal BAMBO CISSOKHO to double up on the rhythmic textures on Djembe and Sabaar drums. 100% Organic Live DnB, no MIDI, no sequencer! All Blessings.
